The Bus is Full
headlights cut through the black curtain of evening
the bus approaches the bus stop
a dozen stranded faces light up
one or two hold out an outstretched hand
alerting the driver that they are in need of a piggyback
the bus does not slow down
the bus does not move closer to the pavement
the previously beaming faces now turn to horror
the bus is not going to stop for them
the bus is full
I’m already on the bus
I’m already on my way home
maybe you’ll have more fortune in the next life
